On June 18, 1999, SEI's Dr. Steven Courtney presented a talk
on the use of science in the Pacific Lumber habitat conservation plan as
part of the Symposium on Science and Policy at the Annual Meeting of the
Society for Conservation Biology, in College Park, Maryland.
The presentation, which was prepared by M. Cody, S.P. Courtney,
and D. Bigger and is summarized in the following slide show, discusses the
difficulties inherent in endangered species planning on private lands and
highlights some of the benefits of including outside, independent scientific
input.
