Barred owls were identified as a major threat to the spotted owl in the ‘Scientific evaluation of the status of the Northern Spotted Owl’. To facilitate discussion regarding barred owl ecology, interactions with spotted owl, and identify future research needs, Sustainable Ecosystems Institute organized a workshop held on June 14th and 15th, 2005 in Arcata, CA.

The workshop was funded by US Fish and Wildlife, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, US Forest Service, and Bureau of Land Management. Organizational assistance was provided by Lowell Diller, Green Diamond Resource Co. We wish to thank all those that participated in this event.
