International forestry is Pete's love and his forte. He has worked in forest restoration for over 30 years, long before it became a fashionable buzz word. For the past ten years Pete has taken his skills and knowledge and applied them to international forestry activities in countries such as Poland, New Zealand, Taiwan and Russia. Pete joined SEI to coordinate the sustainable forestry program in Siberia and the Russian Far East. This effort is part of a larger iniative to help mitigate the effects of global climate change. The work itself is far reaching and every year Pete leads teams of researchers to Russia for technology transfer. Pete sits on advisory bodies that help set research directions in Russia. In 1999 Pete was awarded the US Forest Service Chiefs Award for international work. Pete is an active outdoorsman, and when not traveling he loves to canoe and spend time with photography. Indoors during the "rainy season" Pete is an avid collector of antiquarian books.
