SEI Process: Scientific Reviews

Some examples of recent projects and events relevant to current issues or that have been updated:

  • First SEI Everglades Avian Summit. Go here for an overview of the project. Panel findings: click here for a pdf copy of the report.
  • Dr. Deborah Brosnan provided testimony to the House Committee on Transportation on the role of peer review in environmental decisions.
  • The Columbia River Channel Deepening Project. SEI facilitated independent scientific review of the project. Details, transcripts available.
  • Telluride Colorado. At a press conference in Telluride, Colorado, SEI released the final scientific report San Miguel Headwaters-Valley Floor: Scientific Analysis, Synthesis and Recommendations.
    • "All land use decisions should start with a sound understanding of the science and ecology. I congratulate the residents of Telluride and the scientists for taking this important step." — former Secretary of the Interior Bruce Babbitt.

    Update 2007: The town has since purchased the 880 acres of wetlands for conservation!
