The findings of this study can inform and enable policymakers in improving occupational air pollution, including addressing air pollution, pollution sources and other related issues in the garment manufacturing sector in Cambodia. Such interventions will help to uphold the health of workers as a human right, ensure safe workplaces, and also be beneficial for the country’s economic growth, as a healthy workforce is more productive.

UN Regional Forums must become a launchpad for localizing SDG actions

UN Regional Forums on Sustainable Development in 2023 have been sending a clear message: time is short; progress is less than expected; and SDG implementation needs to speed up. We propose three issues on which the Regional Forums can and should focus when deciding on ways to push SDG implementation forward: support review of synergies and trade-offs at a local scale; offer more spaces for scientific actors; and support further access to finance.

Los Foros Regionales de la ONU sobre el Desarrollo Sostenible en 2023 han enviado un mensaje claro: el tiempo apremia, los avances son menores de lo esperado y la implementación de los ODS debe acelerarse.
A water-resilient economy: hydro-macroeconomic and climate change analysis in Rwanda

Rwanda’s economy is inextricably linked to its water supply. It aspires to become an upper-middle-income country by 2035, and a high-income country by 2050. But rising temperatures and more prolonged dry spells threaten crop production and strain water supply. Researchers from SEI and World Bank Group used SEI’s flagship water modelling tool, WEAP, and macroeconomic analysis to determine how water efficiency and storage measures can sustainably support Rwanda’s economic growth.

As the midway point approaches in the effort to achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the vision that was set out in 2015 remains far away.
