In 2019, SEI published the “Reaching Climate Neutrality in Estonia” report. The analysis looked into whether it would be feasible to achieve climate neutrality in Estonia by 2050 instead of the originally set goal of 80% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. The study proposed various political measures and calculated corresponding investments needed and possible CO2 emissions reduction achieved.

The current study aims to analyse the progress made in Estonia since the publication of the 2019 climate neutrality study until today. This is done by looking at both the current statistics as well as which of the proposed measures have been implemented and which investments the country is making on the route of becoming climate neutral.
