SERN is a research network jointly coordinated by the Stockholm Environment Institute and the Nordic Africa Institute and run in collaboration with six other Swedish research institutions and universities.
The network has also close cooperation with research institutions in East and Southern Africa, as well as the department of economics of the Norwegian University of Science & Technology and the Africa Centre of University of Oxford, England.
The objective of the research network is to create a platform and facilitate for researchers to exchange ideas, methodologies and issues related to management and governance of natural resources, livelihoods, rural and agrarian changes, gender, and food and energy productions in sub-Sahara Africa.
The network organizes and facilitates regular seminars, workshop and conferences involving a wide range of audiences across the Nordic countries. These events take place across the different collaborating institutions. The network contributes to SEI’s Theme 3 aim 3.1: Advance knowledge on livelihoods improvement and social change with particular emphasis on governance and institutional dynamics.
The network has been funded by Sida since 2007.
Feature / SEI was invited to share research insights with the International Development Association and Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
