INGENIOUS: Understanding the sources, transformations and fates of indoor air pollutants

Many of the activities we do in our own homes produce airborne pollutants, including particles and chemicals that can be harmful to our health. We don’t know exactly where all of these pollutants come from, how they interact with each other or where they end up. The INGENIOUS project will investigate these unknowns and deliver useful interventions to limit exposure. It focuses on homes in the city of Bradford, UK.

Making adaptation a global ambition

How many wildfires will it take? How many floods? The cataclysmic summer of 2021 is drawing to a close in the northern hemisphere, leaving behind death, destruction and emphatic messages: adaptation to climate change requires global vision and ambition. At the same time, the urgency of adaptation must not be interpreted as a rationale to give up on mitigation. We cannot adapt our way out of this crisis.

The goal of limiting global warming to well below 2°C, as set out in the Paris Agreement, calls for an assessment of societal pathways and policy strategies. Climate change scenarios have addressed this demand by providing scientific insights on the possible pathways ahead. Despite the increased interest, the potential of climate change scenarios has not been fully realized, mostly due to a lack of an intermediary service that provides guidance on climate change scenarios.
