Ashley Ingalsbe is a communications intern based at SEI US in Seattle with a background in science communication, environmental outreach and grassroots advocacy. She is currently pursuing a B.A. in environmental studies with minors in data science and business administration at the University of Washington.
Prior to joining SEI, Ashley gained experience across environmental research, science communication and public outreach roles. As a climate adaptation storytelling intern with the Northwest Climate Adaptation Science Center, she conducted interviews with researchers, developed graphics, and wrote a science spotlight article exploring the effects of climate change on cold-adapted species in the Cascade Mountain Range. Similarly, in her role as a writer and editor with FieldNotes Journal, she produced blogs and community feature articles, translating research and environmental topics into accessible, engaging content for student audiences.
Ashley also brings experience in grassroots environmental advocacy through her work as an Earth and Energy Intern with WashPIRG, where she connected UW students with sustainability campaigns through voter mobilization, signature collection and student public outreach. Her work in advocacy strengthened her interest in using science communication as a means to help connect people with local environmental issues.
With a passion for science communication, environmental storytelling, and public engagement, Ashley is interested in how communication can be used to bridge the gap between environmental research and actionable change.
