We are saddened by the untimely death of Kirk Smith, a professor of global environmental health at UC Berkeley’s School of Public Health. Kirk was a giant in the fields of public health and household air pollution prevention. He was also a great advocate for the world’s poorest people and mentored a generation of scientists and policy makers in the field, including many at SEI and our partner organizations. We know his work will be carried forward by his colleagues and the next generation of researchers and advocates for clean energy.
