To develop new ideas and celebrate the new partnership, the organizations held a joint workshop at SEI on 9 December 2022.

SEI and KTH have forged a strategic collaboration for almost 10 years. The organizations are now taking this one step further in the climate field, with SEI becoming the first knowledge partner of the KTH Climate Action Centre. The centre engages researchers from all parts of KTH and aims to conduct research in close collaboration with stakeholders in order to speed up the transformation by catalyzing knowledge-driven sustainable climate action. The collaboration between SEI and the centre will be on research, engagement and communication for climate action.

To enable the changes needed throughout society, collaboration is key. We fully subscribe to the KTH Climate Action Centre's ambition to take action to advance climate mitigation and adaptation in synergy with all the UN Sustainable Development Goals and see that this is an area where SEI's mission of bridging science, policy and practice is at the core.

SEI Executive Director Måns Nilsson

The partnership will involve a continuous dialogue on what kind of research is needed to bring about a transformation to a climate-neutral and resilient society, which other actors need to be involved, how research can influence policy and decision-making and how to jointly communicate around research-based knowledge on climate change.

From a research perspective, it is a great advantage that our research at KTH and SEI complement each other in a way that makes it possible to both produce new results and have a greater positive impact on society

Director Francesco Fuso Nerini, responsible for the centre's research

Karin Larsdotter, Deputy Centre Director responsible for collaboration, describes KTH Climate Action Centre as a new type of arena where different actors can meet to co-create both research questions and research results.

To speed up the climate transition in society, different organizations need to work together. The partnership with SEI fits very well with this work and we look forward to working together even closer and also invite others from civil society and business to join us.

Karin Larsdotter, Deputy Centre Director

To develop new ideas and celebrate the partnership, the organizations had a joint workshop on 9 December 2022at SEI. Climate adaptation, the Sustainable Development Goals, digitalization and justice aspects are some areas that were discussed.

We look forward to strengthening the collaboration with KTH. The workshops held so far have been creative and inspiring. The next steps will be to concretize joint action in research proposals and outreach.
