Mark Rasmussen is an SEI Affiliated Researcher with SEI Headquarters since January 2016.

Mark has been President of the regional, non-profit organization, the Buzzards Bay Coalition since 1998 working to protect and restore the health of this 730 sq.km ‘Estuary of National Significance’ in southern New England (www.savebuzzardsbay.org).

Prior to joining the Coalition, Mark worked as a Guest Student at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution where he assisted in the assessment of nutrient loading impacts to coastal ecosystems and as a Regional Land Use Planner for the Massachusetts Office of Coastal Zone Management’s Buzzards Bay National Estuary Program.

In 2013, he joined the Stockholm International Water Institute where he led projects designed to enhance the capacity and involvement of community organizations in river restoration activities in the Baltic Sea region. He studied Environmental Policy at Harvard University where he received a Masters in Public Administration and received his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Environmental Studies at Boston College.
