About the event

The Ecological Citizens Festival was a free, in-person event taking place at the Museum of Making in Derby. It offered a full day of interactive workshops, creative sessions, open conversations and shared meals, all designed to explore how ecological citizenship is being practised in diverse, grounded and collaborative ways.

The festival was open to anyone interested in ecological sustainability, civic participation and creative approaches to climate and environmental challenges. We welcomed participants from across academia, local communities, the public and private sectors, the arts, activism and design.

The programme included:

  • interactive workshops led by practitioners and researchers
  • facilitated discussions exploring the meaning and practice of ecological citizenship
  • creative sessions and hands-on activities
  • opportunities for networking and informal exchange
  • shared meals and space for reflection and collaboration
