Ekaterina Bessonova is a Communications Officer at SEI in Stockholm. Ekaterina leads digital communications of the Swedish International Agriculture Network Initiative, SIANI and for the SEI Initiatives on Sustainable Sanitation, Behaviour and Choice and Governing Bioeconomy Pathways. She joined SEI in April 2013.
Ekaterina is a communications professional specialising in sustainable development. Her skills are broad and diverse and include bird’s-eye view strategy, content creation, event management and public relations as well as the nitty-gritty of google analytics and social media. She is particularly interested in audience engagement and community development and employs various multi-media to boost and retain it.
Her other interests are focused around strategies for sustainable future, including organisational change, sustainable business and communication for development.
Ekaterina have designed and implemented communications strategies for multi-stakeholder projects and initiatives concerned with climate policy and international development as well as public policy, with focus on food, agriculture, health and resource recovery.
While she possess scientifically sound knowledge of sustainability, her background is in political philosophy and partnerships for sustainable development. This base, combined with the skill for distilling complex narratives into comprehensive appealing stories and the ability to do that through various means and media, equips her with a unique, inventive, results-oriented approach to communications.
Ekaterina holds a Master’s Degree in Sustainable Development from Uppsala University. Her final project was devoted to design of public-private partnership for waste management in Haiti. She also has a degree in Political Science, during which she majored in Political Communication and Political Philosophy.
