Gökçe Mete was a Research Fellow at SEI Headquarters. She was Head of Secretariat of Leadership Group for Industry Transition (LeadIT ) hosted by SEI. LeadIT explores how policy, finance and business practices in hard-to-abate industry sectors can be aligned to achieve climate neutrality consistent with Paris Agreement.

Gökçe was project lead on an initiative co-creating evidence for oil and gas transitions in the North Sea focusing on just transitions, hydrogen, CCUS and offshore wind. In addition, she led a new project which aims to create greater coherence between policies to reduce GHG emissions in the road transport and construction sectors and on green public procurement targets in the EU.

Gökçe was also part of Circular and Sustainable Steel Transitions (CAST) which is a continuation of the work done by SEI and Lund University in the Hydrogen Breakthrough Ironmaking Technology (HYBRIT) project, exploring the steel market and the policy environment necessary for a transition to fossil-free steel production.
