Gökçe is a Research Fellow at SEI Headquarters – Energy & Industry Transition Team
Gokce is Head of Secretariat of the Leadership Group for the Industry Transition hosted by SEI. LeadIT explores how policy, finance and business practices in hard-to-abate industry sectors can be aligned to achieve climate neutrality consistent with Paris Agreement. At SEI, she also project leads an initiative co-creating evidence for oil and gas transitions in the North Sea focusing on just transitions, hydrogen, CCUS and offshore wind. In addition, she is leading a new project which aims to create greater coherence between policies to reduce GHG emissions in the road transport and construction sectors and on green public procurement targets in the EU.
Gokce is also part of Circular and Sustainable Steel Transitions (CAST) is a continuation of the work done by SEI and Lund University in the Hydrogen Breakthrough Ironmaking Technology (HYBRIT) project, exploring the steel market and the policy environment necessary for a transition to fossil-free steel production.
She is also a Founding Member of the Women in Green Hydrogen Network, a network of passionate women with a vision to increase the visibility and amplify the voices of women working in green hydrogen.
Gokce is a project manager, consultant and research professional with 12 years of policy and regulatory analysis, public affairs, project development and stakeholder management experience focused on climate change, just transition and sustainability in the energy, heavy industry and minerals sectors.
She published over 26 articles, including a sole-authored book on the Future of Natural Gas in the EU, based on her PhD. She is currently co-editing a new Palgrave Handbook of Social License to Operate and Energy Transitions and a Climate Policy Journal special issue on Oil and Gas Transitions, both due to be published in 2022.
Gokce holds a PhD from the Centre for Energy Petroleum, Mineral Law and Policy (CEPMLP) at the University of Dundee. She also has an LL.M in Corporate and Commercial Law from Queen Mary University of London and a BA in International Law and Legal Studies from Yeditepe University.
