Peeter Eek

Peeter Eek is an SEI Affiliated Researcher with SEI Headquarters.

Peeter graduated Tartu University in Estonia (1989) as geologist. He has worked mostly in public environmental system in Estonia. Since 1993 he has been dealing with the waste management issues on County level, later in the Ministry of Environment of Estonia, where he served as Director General of the Waste department (2001-2017) and Councilor of the Ministry of the Environment (2017-2018). This period included work on waste management sector prior becoming a member EU, but also all processes as EU Member State since 2004.

He works from 2019 as circular economy expert in Earthcare Consult in Estonia.

Due to his work experience, he does have long experience on waste management legislation in general, waste management plans and strategies, economic measures on waste management sector, extended producer responsibility issues etc.

Peeter have been active as EU Member Sate expert on waste management and circular economy in many seminars and workshops, organized by EU Commission in EU-candidate countries and EU Eastern-neighborhood Countries.  He have been active on many similar seminars and workshops also in Estonia.
