Shogofa Rezaie is an Associate at SEI Headquarters. She supports the Urban Circularity Assessment Framework project, where she assesses the societal impacts of a circular city transition.

Shogofa’s main research interests lie in a circular economy, urban transitions and low-carbon economy transformations, both in developing and non-developing contexts. She brings regional knowledge on Latin America as well as experience in transdisciplinary and qualitative research.

Before starting at SEI, Shogofa supported the International Climate Initiative project, Strategic Environmental Dialogues, which provides technical assistance to the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety for facilitating low-carbon economy transitions, especially in emerging economies. Additionally, she gained experience in the governmental and non-governmental sector through internships at the German Federal Foreign Office, at Amnesty International in Mexico and at the Goethe Institute in Costa Rica.

Shogofa holds an International Joint M.Sc. in Sustainable Development. She studied at two consortium universities, the University of Graz in Austria and Utrecht University in the Netherlands, where she specialised in Earth System Governance. Her master’s thesis focuses on a transition towards circular cities with Stockholm as her case study. Shogofa holds a bachelor’s degree in Politics and Public Administration from the University of Konstanz in Germany and had the opportunity to study at the Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico for one semester.
