Shogofa Rezaie is a Research Associate in the Cities, Communities and Consumption Team within the Division for Climate, Societies and Policy Support at SEI Headquarters in Stockholm.
Her main areas of research include the circular economy model, urban transitions, low-carbon economy transformations and sustainable consumption. Beyond her regional focus on Europe, she brings regional knowledge about emerging economies in Asia and Latin America and the Caribbean. Currently, Shogofa is working in projects supporting circular economy transitions, financing climate action for climate-neutral cities, and investigating sustainable consumption pathways.
Before starting at SEI, Shogofa worked at the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), providing technical support and facilitating high-level dialogues on low-carbon, climate-resilient and sustainable transitions in emerging economies. Additionally, she gained experience in governmental and non-governmental sectors through internships at the German Federal Foreign Office, at Amnesty International in Mexico and at the Goethe Institute in Costa Rica.
Shogofa holds an interdisciplinary Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Sustainable Development from the University of Graz (Austria) and Utrecht University (Netherlands) with a specialization in Earth System Governance. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Politics and Public Administration from the University of Konstanz (Germany).
