Yani Wang is a Learning and Impact Manager at SEI Headquarters in the Communications, Learning and Impact Division. Previously, she worked on addressing green transitions in the heaviest emitting sectors – agriculture and industries, focusing on deforestation-free supply chain, sustainable production and consumption, as well as industry decarbonizations. Yani contributed to two SEI flagship initiatives – Trase (Intelligence for Sustainable Trade) and LeadIT (Leadership Group for Industry Transitions). In addition to help set and meet program objectives and enhance external and internal coherence, she actively engages in policy discussions, sustains partnerships, and facilitates program development. She also plays the role to help boost project impact by identifying effective and efficient impact pathways and fostering learnings across the collaboration.
Prior to SEI, Yani served as a policy and program coordinator at UNDP China, during which her work led to the establishment of the Innovation and Development Center between UNDP and China Development Bank. She also authored flagship policy reports and led several capacity building projects and policy dialogues. She has work experience from UNESCO’s World Water Assessment Programme and consultancy firms in the climate area.
Yani holds a MSc in Development Studies from SOAS University of London and BA in Southeast Asia Studies from Beijing Foreign Studies University. She speaks English, Mandarin Chinese, Thai and Lao.
