Drawing on experience from different contexts within both developed and developing countries, these proceedings highlight a number of emerging issues and examples of good practice, as well as the challenges of participatory initiatives.
Readers may find it helpful to view these papers as a continuum, one end of which presents the more technical and academic aspects of participation, while the other considers empirical and practical experiences. Throughout, we try to show how some of these academic problems can be solved in practice.
