The time of cheap food is likely to come to an end, says SEI Researcher Toby Gardner in a BBC report. Ending deforestation and maintaining low food prices is likely to be an impossible equation and Gardner believes that consumers will have to prepare for a rise in food prices for the sake of the climate.
“Consumers will inevitably have to absorb some of these costs if we want to deliver on the COP 26 declaration - by paying more and consuming less.”
