Areas of expertise include energy systems, sustainable finance, disaster risk reduction, sustainable sanitation, bioeconomy, supply chains, climate change, gender and livelihoods, behaviour and choice, participatory methods, and institutions and governance.

Organizational chart

Organisation chart for SEI HQ. The Executive Director sits at the top, with the Executive Coordinator and Research Director reporting in below. Three functional units report to the Research Director: Engagement and Impact, Finance and Operations, and Human Resources. Engagement and Impact oversees five teams: Global Agendas, Climate and Systems; Societies, Climate and Policy Support; Resources, Rights and Development; Global Communications and Branding; and Communications, Learning and Impact. Three of these teams have research units beneath them. Global Agendas, Climate and Systems contains Energy and Industry Transitions, International Climate Risk and Adaptation, Trase R&D, Trase Products and LeadIT. Societies, Climate and Policy Support contains Environmental Policy and Strategy; Cities, Communities and Consumption; Water, Coasts and Ocean; and Economics of the Sustainability Transitions. Resources, Rights and Development contains Development Policy and Finance; Agriculture, Land and Bioeconomy; Rights and Equity; and Sanitation and Health.
