Join our event on 2 December 2021 as speakers from SEI, WWF-UK and Efeca discuss the UK food system’s relationship with soy and how to improve its resilience. The event will cover key areas, including the UK’s dependency on soy, the risks associated with this and how prepared certain sectors are to deal with these risks.
Join us for our webinar on the 2 December at 11am GMT as we present key messages on how to improve the resilience of the UK’s food system, and its relationship with soy.
This event marks the launch of a new policy and practice brief, Resilience of the UK food system regarding demand for soy, from the Resilience of the UK Food System in a Global Context research programme (funded by Global Food Security – Food Systems Resilience (GFS-FSR)).
In recent decades soy has emerged as a critical agricultural commodity for the UK, particularly for the livestock industry, but it is almost exclusively grown overseas.
In this event, Dr Chris West will present key messages from the policy and practice brief. Chris was a Co-Investigator on IKnowFood, one of 13 projects in the GFS-FSR programme aiming to enhance the resilience of the UK food system. He also leads the Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) group at SEI York.
Key areas covered by the webinar will include:
Guest speakers from Efeca and WWF-UK will respond to the brief and share their current work in this area. There will also be an opportunity for the audience to ask questions.
The event will be chaired by John Ingram, Coordination team lead for the GFS – FSR Programme.
