Alejandro Feged Rivadeneira

Research Fellow

Alejandro Feged Rivadeneira is Research Fellow at SEI Oxford.

Alejandro is a multidisciplinary researcher with a strong academic background in anthropology, environmental sciences, and data analytics. With a PhD in Anthropology from Stanford University, he leverages advanced methodologies from bioinformatics, design thinking, ethnography, remote sensing, and spatial analysis to address the challenges of climate adaptation and environmental governance.

Alejandro was a lead designer for the SIGETI information system, which integrates satellite data with field-based information to support climate change adaptation in indigenous territories of Colombia, through his work with the Gaia Amazonas Foundation.

He also has extensive experience in the public health and epidemiological fields, applying network theory and spatiotemporal analysis to study infectious diseases, particularly climate-sensitive health risks such as malaria in the Amazon and during the Covid-19 pandemic.

In addition to research, Alejandro has taught courses in environmental management, geographic information systems, and urban ecology at various universities, helping students understand the intersection of big data, sustainability, and human ecology.

His work emphasizes the integration of both qualitative and quantitative methods for decision-making processes related to climate resilience and sustainable governance.

Alejandro’s expertise spans a variety of fields, including climate adaptation, disaster risk reduction, and green technologies, which he combines in his commitment to using data-driven insights to guide humanitarian policy, enhance ecological resilience, and inform global environmental models. His ongoing collaboration with international partners focuses on the development of inclusive, scalable climate adaptation solutions that leverage technology to promote sustainable development and resilience across different settings.

He is working on the FAIR2Adapt project.
