Austin Lee is an Energy Modelling Program intern at the SEI US Somerville Office. He joined SEI in February 2022 and now assists the Energy Modeling Program with project support tasks such as data collection and analysis, meeting logistics and stakeholder follow-up. His principal project will be our UN ESCAP Green Power Corridor project in Northeast Asia, in which he will use his Korean language skills to engage with Korean partners.
Austin is a first-year Master’s degree candidate at The Fletcher School of Tufts University. Currently working as a research assistant at the Climate Policy Lab (CPL) at Tufts University, his current research focuses on green industrialization in India and identifying the policy gaps for vehicle electrification. Austin is a recent graduate of Boston University, where he received his B.A. with honors in Political Science and International Relations in 2021. Austin’s honors thesis studied the role of the South Korean government’s executive branch in shaping their national renewable energy policy.
Prior to joining SEI, Austin worked at various positions including at the BU Research Administration and BU School of Law, and as an independent GRE tutor. Austin also worked as a research assistant intern at the Overseas Development Institute (ODI) in London. There, he provided research support for the International Economic Development Group on projects concerning agricultural technology application in the East African community, the Belt and Road Initiative and more.
Austin is from Dallas, Texas, and grew up in the US, Canada and South Korea. Austin is also an avid soccer fan and a former swimmer, and he enjoys watching movies and cooking Korean dishes in his free time.
