Felipe Sanchez

Policy Fellow

Felipe Sanchez

Felipe Sanchez is a Policy Fellow at SEI Headquarters – Climate Energy and Society Unit. He is focused on the decarbonzation of heavy industry as part of the Leadership Group for Industry Transition (LeadIT) Secretariat, and the transition away from oil and gas.

Prior to joining SEI, Felipe served as a senior policy adviser in the Strategy Unit of the UK Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, providing evidence-based advice to Ministers on critical or strategic issues. Most notably, this involved developing the framework for the UK’s first legally binding targets for the environment. Other projects included research into technology for removing plastic pollution from rivers, flood insurance for microbusinesses, and antimicrobial resistance governance – all in the context of Brexit preparations. Felipe has also worked with public sector, investment banking and telecommunications clients as a management consultant at Accenture.

Felipe holds a MSc in Environmental Political Science from Stockholm University. His thesis investigated the effects of the stability of decarbonization policy mixes on the environmental, social and governance (ESG) indicators of basic materials companies, using panel data regression models. He also holds a BA in Economics and Politics from the University of Exeter, UK.
