Joe Simpson

Joe Simpson is a Research Assistant at SEI York and is a member of the Sustainable Consumption and Production team.  He works on the Trase and CASCADES projects, which seek to map the impacts of supply chains on deforestation and explore Europe’s cross-boundary climate risk exposure via trade. Joe recently collaborated with the WWF to analyse data collected from the WWF Carbon Footprint Calculator.

Joe graduated with a MChem in Chemistry from the University of York, where he specialised in modelling atmospheric chemistry. He holds an MSc in Sustainability and Behaviour Change from Liverpool John Moores University. His research explored the role of trade unions and workers’ organisations in facilitating a ‘just transition’ from the current fossil fuel regime towards a green sustainable economy.
