Lisandra Matos

Lisandra is a Research Assistant within the Renewable Energy Team at SEI Latin America. Her work focuses on the intersection of marine science, stakeholder engagement, and the just and equitable deployment of offshore renewable energy. She is particularly interested in fostering coexistence between offshore wind energy and traditional fishing communities, ensuring that ecological protection balances with socio-economic advancement.

She has extensive experience in Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Marine Spatial Planning (MSP), competencies applied to mediating conflicts between the renewable energy sector and commercial fisheries. As a Fisheries Liaison Officer in the UK, she led dialogues with key organizations translating socioeconomic concerns into policy recommendations and mitigation measures for offshore wind farms and subsea cables. Her career is defined by integrating scientific knowledge with industry and societal needs to deliver science-based solutions for just energy transitions.

Lisandra holds a BSc in Oceanography from the Federal University of Maranhão (UFMA), Brazil. She was a recipient of the prestigious British Council Women in STEM scholarship. She earned her MSc in Marine Environmental Protection from Bangor University, UK, where she specialized in marine ecology, conservation, and coastal zone management.
