Oliver Kaspersson

Oliver Kaspersson is a Research Associate at SEI Headquarters – Water, Coasts and Ocean Team, Societies, Climate and Policy Support Division. Oliver’s main area at SEI is the blue economy, where he works in projects related to ocean governance and ecosystem-based management. Within the Mistra Co-Creating Better Blue (C2B2) programme, he contributes to research on marine policy, ecosystem processes, and marine spatial planning. In the SafeWin project, he works on project development and coordination to promote multifunctional offshore wind solutions that integrate environmental monitoring and the protection of critical infrastructure, supporting cooperation between civilian and military actors.

Before joining as an Associate, he completed an internship at SEI Headquarters, during which he wrote his master’s thesis on policy coherence in the implementation of the ecosystem approach in Sweden’s Marine Spatial Plan for the Baltic Sea. Prior to that, he also interned with the Unit for International Affairs at the Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management.

Oliver holds a master’s degree in Sea and Society and a bachelor’s degree in Global Studies from the University of Gothenburg, specialising in marine governance, the blue economy, and international relations and sustainable development.
