About the fund

In partnership with Enterprise Singapore, the U.S.-ASEAN Smart Cities Partnership (USACSP) has launched a US $3 million request for proposals for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in ASEAN countries pioneering net-zero/low carbon solutions and sustainable market solutions to address urban challenges under the Smart Cities Business Innovation Fund 2.0 (BIF 2.0). The Fund will address critical financing gaps at the sub-national level, accelerate climate action in support of urban sustainability and reinforce countries’ Nationally Determined Contributions.

The Fund will finance approximately 10-15 projects in amounts of between USD 200,000 – 400,000. Eligible applicants are legally registered ASEAN companies, NGO, and/or universities with at least 51% ASEAN ownership. Applicants can apply under two tracks: Track 1 is for ASEAN entities to apply individually or as a consortium. Track 2 is for ASEAN entities to apply in partnership with a Singaporean entity. The deadline for applications is January 15, 2025, for Track 1 and February 15, 2025, for Track 2.

SEI’s role

SEI will manage the grant and support grantees through research and capacity building initiatives. The project will aim to build a regional community of practice, facilitating linkages between SMEs and other regional actors and develop knowledge products highlighting the role that the private sector can play in reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions while strengthening the adaptive capacity of cities and advancing urban equity and social inclusion.

This project is currently on pause. Interested parties can await updates on this page and on official SEI channels.
