Hiromi Inagaki

Hiromi Inagaki joined SEI Asia in July 2026 as Research Fellow with the Urban team. Hiromi leads research, policy analysis and stakeholder engagement on the circular economy in Asia. She also contributes to the development of funding proposals, drawing on her expertise in resource and waste circularity, particularly in relation to inclusive energy transitions.

Hiromi holds a PhD in Human Geography from the National University of Singapore, specialising in the political-economic geography of sugarcane-based electricity production and circulation in Thailand. She also holds an MA in Environment and Sustainable Development from the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS), where her master’s research focused on e-waste recycling and its environmental health implications in India.

Before joining SEI Asia, Hiromi worked at the Future Cities Lab (FCL) of the ETH Zurich Singapore Centre in Singapore and the AIT-UNEP Regional Resource Centre for Asia and the Pacific (RRC.AP) in Thailand. During more than two years at FCL, she examined the socio-economic and spatial dimensions of solar power and bioenergy expansion in Indonesia and Thailand. Over seven years at RRC.AP, she led several multi-country projects advancing climate-resilient, low-carbon development across Asia.
