Aaron Atteridge is a Senior Research Fellow at SEI in Stockholm. Aaron has 20 years’ experience working with environment and development issues. He is a co-leader of the SEI Initiative on Global Finance.
Since joining SEI in 2008, Aaron has focused primarily on climate change policy and energy policy issues, and in particular on supporting adaptation to the impacts of climate change, as well as on climate finance and climate politics. He also works on questions relating to energy access in developing countries, and on understanding the dynamics of behaviour change in household energy practices.
During a leave of absence in 2013–14, Aaron worked as climate change adviser for the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC), based in Fiji. In this role he worked with some of the smaller Pacific island countries to support policy development and the implementation of specific adaptation or development projects designed to improve the resilience of communities.
Prior to joining SEI, Aaron was a senior policy officer on climate change and energy for the New South Wales Department of the Environment and Climate Change, Australia. He has also worked on community energy projects in Thailand and on environmental assessment for Environment Canada, and has several years’ environmental consulting experience in Australia and the United Kingdom.
Aaron holds a master’s degree in social science (international relations – globalization, environment and social change) from Stockholm University, and a bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering (honours) from the University of New South Wales, Australia.
