Alberto Isgut is an SEI Affiliated Researcher at SEI Asia.
Alberto has been an economist at the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) in Bangkok, Thailand since 2007. He was previously an Assistant Professor of economics at Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT, United States.
During his career he has published research articles in professional journals such as the Review of Economics and Statistics, the Journal of Development Studies, the International Journal of Finance and Economics, and the Asia-Pacific Sustainable Development Journal.
At ESCAP, in addition to organizing intergovernmental meetings and managing capacity building and technical assistance projects, he has led the preparation of flagship reports, contributed chapters to multiple publications, edited two books, and wrote various working papers, policy briefs, and reports. Since 2015 he has worked on financing for development. His recent interests include sustainable finance and blue carbon.
A native of Argentina, he studied economics at the University of Buenos Aires and the University of Toronto, where he obtained a Ph.D. in 1997.
