Atakilte was a Research Fellow at SEI Stockholm from January 2008 – May 2013. Atakilte’s research area was within Rural Development focusing on institutions and governance, rural-urban interfaces, natural resources management, and gender relations in agricultural and livelihood systems.
Atakilte’s work also included food and energy security challenges in Africa and the implications of biofuels as a development trajectory for rural transformation. He have also carried out other types of activities such as coordination of interdisciplinary research networks, organizing international conferences and panels, preparing research projects for funding and implementation of projects.
