SEI LA
Camila is a Research Assistant at SEI Latin America, working within the Water Team. She is a civil engineer with a master’s degree in Hydraulic Resources and a specialization in international cooperation project management. She has seven years of professional experience in hydroclimatology, climate change, and satellite data analysis.
Prior to joining SEI, Camila worked at the Institute of Hydrology, Meteorology and Environmental Studies (IDEAM) and at Colombia’s National Natural Parks, where she served as a climate change specialist. She has also worked as a consultant on projects led by universities and private companies in Colombia. In parallel, she has been involved in disseminating water-related knowledge through undergraduate and graduate teaching, as well as through community-based initiatives.
At SEI, Camila has contributed to water planning projects in the Cinaruco River basin in Colombia, and in the transboundary Acre River basin, spanning Bolivia, Peru, and Brazil. She has also worked on projects assessing hydrological changes in endorheic basins, such as the Pastos Grandes Salt Flat in Argentina, where mining activities are planned.
Camila is particularly interested in applying citizen science as a tool to promote the co-creation of knowledge and environmental research in collaboration with people and communities. In this context, she has implemented community-based monitoring initiatives in wetlands and is currently seeking to expand the application of this methodology across Latin America.
