Doreen has over seven years experience administrating and coordinating regional and national projects in agriculture, communication, sustainable development, policy and advocacy and networking sectors in East and West Africa (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Zambia, Nigeria, Mali, Benin and Senegal) with substantial work in projects on areas of research, training, extension, information and communication, value chain and market development, local empowerment in livelihoods sector; with main focus on poverty reduction through livelihood enhancement, environmental education, capacity building, conservation, biodiversity while handling programme operations, partner communications, project monitoring, financial reporting as well as handling donor correspondences.
Prior to joining SEI-Africa Centre in October 2015, Doreen worked for the International Centre for Insect Physiology and Ecology (ICIPE)-Biovision Farmer Communication Programme as well as Biovision Africa Trust where she was very instrumental in setting up the Farmer communication Programme as well as facilitating registration and starting operations for the Biovision Africa Trust (BvAT). Doreen successfully facilitated for the establishment of National Platforms and the selection of Country Lead Organizations (CLOs) & Pillar/project implementing partners (PIPs) that are currently responsible for management, accountability and general oversight of all partner activities in the eight countries where BvAT is operating.
Before ICIPE, Doreen worked with Ericsson Kenya Limited (EKL) whereby she was in charge of administering a portfolio of projects according to Ericsson’s global processes and scheduling of project activities in the Africa region.
Doreen holds a masters degree in Business Administration (Finance option) from the United States International University (USIU). Her research focused on ‘Effects of Earmarking Donor Funds’ a case study of agricultural based non-governmental organizations in Kenya. She also holds bachelor’s degree in Economics and Sociology from the University of Nairobi (UON). Doreen is a certified public accountant (CPA.K)
