George Odera Outa is an Affiliated Researcher with SEI Africa. He has over 37 years of academic and active public service under various national and international modalities, including having been the University of Nairobi coordinator for the ‘Transforming Social Inequalities Through Inclusive Climate Action (TSITICA) project under the African Research University Alliance (ARUA) programme. He is presently the Institutional Coordinator for NOHRED II (Capacity Building for Socially Just Energy Transitions in Eastern Africa) project domiciled at the Technical University of Kenya.
He has diverse interdisciplinary interests and publications covering topics on African Literature, International Law; Environmental Diplomacy, the Blue Economy, policy communication and the relevance of art and literature to the scientific enterprise.
Outa has received various prestigious awards, among them, the St Andrews (UK) Prize for the Environment (2001) and the Governance in East Africa Research Awards (1993).
Outa is an alumnus of the University of Nairobi; a Law graduate of the University of London (UK) and the University of California-Hastings in the USA and previously a ‘Tothil Prestige Scholar’ at the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa.
