Gordon Mumbo is a water governance and climate resilience specialist with extensive experience supporting governments, communities, and development partners to address complex environmental and water management challenges across Africa. His work focuses on advancing sustainable, inclusive, and evidence-based solutions that strengthen water security, climate adaptation, and environmental governance.

As an Affiliated Researcher with SEI Africa, Gordon contributes to research, policy dialogue, and technical advisory work aimed at improving climate resilience and sustainable water management. His expertise spans environmental and social impact assessment, climate-resilient livelihoods programming, multi-stakeholder facilitation, and translating technical research into practical policy and development outcomes. He also serves as Lead Consultant at GrowthPro Consultants, where he supports governments, UN agencies, development partners, and civil society organizations in programme design, evaluation, and strategic advisory work.

His professional experience includes senior leadership roles across international NGOs, UN programmes, and regional initiatives. Internationally, he has worked with organizations such as Water For People, Relief International, UNOPS under the Nile Basin Initiative, Winrock International, and WaterAid UK, leading large-scale water, sanitation, and climate resilience programmes. In Kenya and the wider East African region, he has collaborated with partners including WWF Kenya, UNICEF, GIZ, PwC Kenya, Gatsby Africa, and regional water authorities, supporting policy dialogue, programme evaluation, and institutional strengthening.

Gordon is also an active contributor to thought leadership on water governance and climate resilience, advocating for integrated, community-centred approaches to managing water resources in the face of climate change.
