SEI
Juan Pablo currently works as a Research Assistant at SEI Latin America within the Water Team. He is passionate about water resources management, hydrogeological modelling, and the use of geospatial tools and programming to support decision-making in complex water systems.
Prior to joining SEI, he developed and calibrated groundwater models using MODFLOW for mining facilities, conducted GIS-based spatial analysis, and contributed to research on decision-support systems for water-energy-resource optimization. He has also carried out hydrological modelling for irrigation systems and rural water supply design.
Beyond his technical work, Juan Pablo is actively engaged in water education and outreach, and serves as Vice Chair of the IWA Young Water Professionals Chapter Bolivia.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Universidad Privada Boliviana, Bolivia, and a Master’s degree in Water Resources Science and Technology from the Universitat de Girona, Spain, where he studied as a Fundación Carolina scholar. His academic training is further complemented by specialized coursework in geospatial big data analysis and visualization at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid.
