Kaie Kriiska joined SEI Tallinn as an Expert of the Sustainable Development programme in 2020. She holds a PhD in Landscape Ecology and Environmental Protection and a MSc in Environmental Technology, both from University of Tartu, Estonia. Kaie has complemented her academic background in environmental and soil sciences and international carbon markets at the University of Lüneburg (Germany), Aalborg University (Denmark) and University of Freiburg (Germany), respectively.
In addition to research projects in the belowground carbon cycle, Kaie has been working in the field of climate change policy and greenhouse gas reporting under the Kyoto Protocol and Paris Agreement and holds a UNFCCC Greenhouse Gas Inventories Reviewer certificate. She has also contributed to the development of Estonian National Climate Change Adaptation Strategy and Action Plan.
