Katia is an Analyst with the Energy Modelling program at SEI US who is passionate about evidence-based climate action and the coming energy transition. Her work focuses on pollution mitigation as well as climate modelling and planning in Central Asia and Eastern Europe. Prior to her role at SEI, Katia worked on a collaborative project between the University of Chicago and Invenergy, the Midwest’s largest renewable energy developer, to build an analytics tool supporting the development of solar energy projects and drive effective communication in rural communities.

Katia joined SEI in 2026 after graduating from the University of Chicago with a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience and a Bachelor of Arts in Data Science. Throughout her studies, she gravitated towards modelling complex and dynamic systems and ultimately completed her undergraduate thesis on the representational geometries of neural populations in monkeys during learning. In her free time, Katia enjoys bouldering, hiking and fiber arts.
