Luciana Fernandes Coelho was a Research Fellow at SEI Headquarters – Team Water, Coasts and Ocean, Division.

Luciana’s research primarily revolved around enhancing the interface between law, policy, and science in the context of ocean governance. Given the growing number of stakeholders and agendas in the ocean space, as well as the mounting anthropogenic pressures on marine ecosystems, her work focused on exploring management and regulatory approaches that can foster a more sustainable, science-driven, inclusive, and multi-sectoral relationship with the ocean. Key topics of interest encompassed ocean governance, environmental justice, equity, blue economy, and capacity building.
