Madis joined SEI Tallinn as the Director of the Climate and Energy programme in August 2019. He has worked with multiple facets of sustainable development including sustainable neighborhood development, eco-labels for new and renovated buildings and renewable energy systems. He significantly contributed to the Estonian Energy Development Plan 2030+ while working for the Estonian Development Fund and he helped to initiate and run the nation-wide energy efficiency competition Negavatt.
More recently, Madis has been working in Africa and Asia on projects targeted towards relief and development. Working for the International Committee of the Red Cross Madis managed water and habitat program in the Shan State in Myanmar and advocated effects of climate change on groundwater in Azerbaijan.
Madis is also passionate about Geographic Information Systems.
