Marina Paulin

Martina Paulin is a Research Fellow at SEI Headquarters. She is part of the Cities, Communities and Consumption Team, within the Societies, Climate and Policy Support Division. Martina is passionate about bridging the gap between theory and practice in environmental policy- and decision-making. Her research and experience lie in the realm of environmental impact assessment.

Martina is currently involved in several projects. As part of the C-Sink project, she is engaged in the integrated assessment of CO2 removal (CDR) technologies, with a focus on the social impact and acceptability of these technologies. She also works under the CANDIES (Carbon Neutral Digestive Initiative – Enhancing Systems) project, which explores how environmental information and digital tools can support more sustainable food systems and sustainable food consumption and production.

Before joining SEI, Martina worked at the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) in the Netherlands, where her work mainly consisted of conducting environmental impact assessments (i.e. social cost-benefit analyses, assessment of ecosystem services). She also contributed to the development of the Natural Capital Model, an integrated set of models for quantifying and mapping natural capital in the Netherlands.

Martina holds a PhD in Ecosystem Services Modeling (2021) from Radboud University, an MSc in Environment and Resource Management (2015) from Vrije University and a BSc in Economics (2009) from Jönköping University.
