Siim Meeliste took on the position of the Director of SEI Tallinn’s Energy and Climate programme in February 2019.
He has a background in Government and Politics in the University of Tartu (BA) and Resource and Environment Management in the University of Southern Denmark (MSc). The outcome of his studies was holding a position of Policy Expert in Renewable Energy in the Estonian Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications for five years. During this tenure he spent time as an intern in the European Commission in Brussels and lead the negotiations of the Renewable Energy Directive, representing the Council of the EU as Estonia held the presidency in 2017.
Siim has worked on biomethane support scheme development and certification schemes. Introducing renewable energy technologies in various public policies has also been in his scope. Most recently he was working with energy efficiency in non-SMEs and energy management in public institutions, local municipalities and industry.
