Pauw, W.P. and Klein, R.J.T., eds (2021). Making Climate Action More Effective: Lessons Learned from the first Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). Routledge, Milton Park, UK.

The book contains insights of some of the world’s most knowledgeable climate policy experts, who address mitigation, adaptation and means of implementation of the NDCs. The authors examine key elements of the Paris Agreement and broader climate policy, and they address equity and development issues.

The authors argue that for countries to realize their climate ambition, they must  enhance the effectiveness of their plans and policies. Enhancing effectiveness will involve improving the transparency, coherence and implementability of their NDCs.

The chapters in this book were originally published as a special issue of Climate Policy.
