At a press briefing in Nairobi attended by Athletics Kenya President Jackson Tuwei and Sports Principal Secretary Peter Tum, Ngongang Danube emphasized the critical role of air quality data during the event, noting that all participants should be informed about the environmental conditions. He also stated that SEI Africa would have an exhibition booth at the marathon to explain the importance of air quality data.

SEI researcher Ngongang Wandji said the real-time air pollution data would help sports administrators and city authorities enhance the health and safety of both athletes and spectators.

The role of air quality data in this specific event will be very critical and we believe everyone who is participating is entitled to know exactly the status of the environment during the marathon.

The real-time air pollution data will help sports administrators and city authorities improve the health and safety of both athletes and spectators. The collaboration between Athletics Kenya and the Swedish Athletics Association was established during the UN Stockholm+50 Conference in 2022.
