SEI York is a research-only centre nested within the dynamic and highly regarded Department of Environment and Geography at the University of York , part of the ‘Russell Group ’ of leading UK universities.

The centre’s research falls into five broad categories: air quality and climate change; nature-society relations; sustainable consumption and production; managing natural resources; and urban environments and human health. Areas of expertise include citizen science and other participatory approaches, and engagement with policy-makers and the private sector.

York staff also participate in teaching as well as PhD and Post-Doc / MSc / MRes supervision. Details on postgraduate study at SEI are available here . The York centre is also part of the York Environmental Sustainability Institute (YESI)  and the Interdisciplinary Global Development Centre , two of the University’s cross-campus, cross-disciplinary research organizations.

Organizational chart

Organizational chart. The following departments report to the Centre Director: Deputy Directors Research Operations, Management Team Research Committee, Administration Research Support Teams. Four project teams report to the Management Team Research Committee. They are: Air Quality, Climate and Environmental Change Research Area and Project Team; Sustainable Consumption and Production Research Area and Project Team; Nature-Society Relations Research Area and Project Team; and Environments, Human Health and Wellbeing Research Area and Project Team.
