Hosted by the Climate Group, an international non-profit committed to advancing climate action, Climate Week NYC unites key stakeholders from government, business, and civil society to tackle the climate crisis. This year there will be a particular focus on competitiveness in a changing world, unlocking barriers to climate action and identifying opportunities for investments in green technology to support global shifts in sustainability.
SEI’s Leadership Group for Industry Transition (LeadIT) is hosting an event on global leadership and de-risking finance to accelerate the transition to net zero industry. LeadIT gathers countries and companies that are committed to reaching net zero carbon emissions from industry by 2050.
Experts from LeadIT will also participate as speakers, panellists and delegates at partner events across Climate Week NYC.

As parties to the Paris Agreement prepare to submit updated NDCs ahead of COP30, raising ambition and accelerating action is critical. Sweden stands ready to make NDCs investable and implementable by contributing with innovative solutions, outlining market barriers for implementation as well as enabling conditions to unlock finance and deploy solutions that support mitigation, adaptation, and address loss and damage.
The event will feature keynote address by Sweden’s Minister of Climate and the Environment, Romina Pourmokhtari, and an expert commentary panel to share reflections of the report. Stakeholders include Mattias Frumerie, Climate Ambassador and Head of Delegation to UNFCCC at the Ministry of Climate and Enterprise in Sweden, climate champions, and executive industry leaders from Sweden and beyond.
LeadIT will speak at this event.
Organizer: Stockholm Environment Institute, together with Climate Analytics and International Institute for Sustainable Development
Where: Online
When: 9:30 EDT
The Production Gap Report tracks the misalignment between governments’ planned and projected production of coal, oil, and gas and the global production levels consistent with the Paris Agreement’s temperature goal.
The report’s fifth edition arrives about 10 years after the Paris Agreement’s ratification, and right as governments submit their third round of climate pledges toward fulfilling the Paris Agreement’s goals. This edition compiles the latest fossil fuel production plans from the world’s governments since the last Production Gap Report in 2023. It provides new analysis on how these plans align with internationally agreed efforts to transition away from fossil fuels in energy systems and achieve net zero by 2050.
Organizer: Reimagining Global Conservation group
Where: Pier 57, 25 11th Ave, New York.

In his 22 July 2025 address, the United Nations’ Secretary-General warned that the world is at a crossroads: “Either we accelerate the transition to a clean, just, and resilient economy — or we accelerate towards crisis.”
For heavy industry – including steel, cement, heavy duty transport and their value chains – this is not a distant choice. These sectors are simultaneously facing decarbonization breakthroughs and acute geopolitical challenges. Low-carbon production methods are achieving commercial viability but clean energy and industrial policy have now become tied to national security and competitiveness. Global trade in critical minerals and industrial products is under strain from fragmentation and uncertain trade conditions.
While technical progress is rapid, deployment remains slow, geographically uneven, and socially fragile. The biggest gaps are a trust deficit between governments and companies across regions and insufficient flows of finance to unlock accelerated decarbonization at scale. This is most pertinent for emerging markets where industrial growth and decarbonization must advance together. As Brazil prepares to host COP30, there is an opportunity to move from pilot projects to globally scaled, cooperative deployment.
This Climate Week event will confront two intertwined challenges to unlocking this opportunity:
During the session, participants will:

The discussion will showcase how such collaborations have the potential to create synergies for businesses, the economy, and society and identify crucial bottlenecks, providing insights on how private sector engagement can help realize national climate goals
