Izzan Fathurrahman

Izzan joined SEI Asia as a Research Associate on circular economy with effect from May 2025. Izzan will support SEI’s growing portfolio on the circular economy with the aim of achieving the strategic goals of the ASEAN Economic Community Circular Economy Framework, fostering resource efficiency, economic resilience, and social and sustainable growth.

Before joining SEI Asia, Izzan worked at UNDP Timor-Leste where he led and managed the economic development portfolio covering the issues of public finance management and development financing, Blue Economy and agricultural value chain, youth employment, and private sector development, including the application of the circular economy principle in rural agribusiness. Prior to that, he worked as a market system development practitioner to support smallholder farmers in rural Indonesia and as a qualitative researcher in the participatory approach method, contributing to several research on the topic of urban-rural migration, child poverty, adolescent nutrition, and research culture in higher education institutions.

Izzan holds a bachelor’s degree from the Political Science Department, University of Indonesia, and a master of science in Development Studies from Lund University, Sweden, through a fully-funded scholarship from the Government of Indonesia.
