Kristel Nõges is an expert in the Climate and Energy team at SEI Tallinn. She joined SEI Tallinn in February 2020. She is mainly focusing on energy related projects and demand-responsive transportation (e.g. the Response project).
Before joining SEI Tallinn, Kristel was a Humphrey fellow at University of California, Davis with an interest in environmental policy, sustainable development and climate change.
Kristel has also worked in the energy department of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications, Estonia where she was focusing on developing and implementing public policies and programs related to energy efficiency. She was representing Estonia in various international institutions and attending working groups at International Energy Agency, Energy Charter, European Council and CA EED. Prior to her public service with the Estonian Government, Kristel was living abroad and working for several years in the field of energy markets and operations. As a result, she has a strong understanding of renewable energy generation and electricity trading in Europe and New Zealand.
Kristel holds a Master’s degree in Renewable Energy Science and Policy from the University of Iceland, and also in Electrical Power Engineering from Tallinn Technical University in Estonia.
